Welcome to one of the most exciting stages of your life! You're now a mum-to-be, and you're carrying the most precious little person in the world. Even though you haven't met them yet, your baby is already a huge part of your life!
Sometime between 4 and 6 months your baby will be ready to start on the exciting journey of learning how to eat. This section gives practical baby feeding information; when to start, what to start with and how to get started!
Your baby is now ready for different textures such as thicker, mashed baby food with soft lumps. They also need a good source of iron to help replenish depleted iron reserves from birth. This section will help guide you on ways to do this and to get baby used to more variety, flavour and more challenging textures.
Your little one is trying to feed themself with hands, spoons and fingerfoods. Independent eating starts to emerge and this encourages hand eye coordination. The more involved your baby can be, the faster they will learn to handle food and feed themselves.
Your toddler is now wanting to become part of family mealtimes and eat family foods. Social interaction at mealtimes is a wonderful way for toddlers to start learning good eating behaviours and you are a very important role model for your toddler.
